Index Cards

Why do people still laugh at me when they want my number, my address (email or otherwise), or a reminder to do something at a certain time, and I pull out an index card and start writing? In the last couple of days, I was able to:

  • Provide my phone number and address to a new friend when he didn’t have a phone on him or internet access for a couple of days
  • Remind three teachers to do three separate things when asked
  • Leave a message under the door of the deputies office while he was away

And a veritable plethora of other tasks, all thanks to the presence of a stack of index cards. If I hadn’t had them, my friend wouldn’t have been able to let me know the bus was running early yesterday, I would have had to run around to all three teachers to remind them, and I wouldn’t have even had the time to find another way of letting the DP know that I was going to be away today and that he’d have to talk to me on Monday.

Stop laughing. Go grab some 3”x5” index cards.
